TS2 - Sneak Peak - What's coming in Mid April - June events

We are finalizing the content for our April 17th – June 30th TS2 Partner Channel Seminars and I wanted to share with you the outline for what we will be covering.   We will start opening registration for some of the April events in next week or two so check the http://www.ts2seminars.com site for the latest updates.

Selling Windows XP SP2 while preparing for Windows Vista

Windows Vista is still months away, but customers today need a secure environment immediately. During this portion of the TS2 Event, we will cover the value proposition of Windows XP SP2 and how to protect your customers’ software and hardware investments. In this section we will also explore some of the new enhancements to Windows Vista, as well as ways to help you “upgrade” your business with Windows Vista selling opportunities.

Positioning Microsoft Office 2003 to existing Microsoft Office customers

When we think of selling a new information worker solution, we naturally think about selling them Microsoft Office 2003. But what about your customers that already have a desktop productivity suite? How do you sell Microsoft Office 2003 to someone who is using a competitive product? What if the competition is a previous version of Microsoft Office? What makes Microsoft Office 2003 a better solution for customers that are running Microsoft® Office 97, Microsoft® Office 2000, or even Microsoft® Office XP? In this section we will focus on how to position the personal and collective benefits of Microsoft Office System to existing Microsoft Office customers. In addition, partners will learn what demos are compelling, and where to find additional sales resources. We will also discuss how to protect your customer’s investment in Microsoft Office using Software Assurance and provide some insight regarding the new benefits of the 2007 Microsoft Office system.

Windows Small Business Server as the cornerstone for a growing business

Understanding the landscape of Windows Server solutions lets you present the right solution for each customer, which translates to more sales and satisfied customers. Windows Small Business Server 2003 is the ideal first-server or essential-server solution for your small business customers, for example, but what happens as those customers grow? During this section, we will discuss how to properly assess the needs of a small- or medium-sized business, suggesting risk-reducing options for both single- and multiple-office scenarios.  We will also cover the new Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 release in detail, including benefits and upgrade paths.

 Demystify the Microsoft Licensing Program

STOP wasting your customers’ money! Chances are you are leaving money on the table that could be used for additional services for their other projects. In this session we will help you identify the best licensing options for your customers that will result in more money in their pockets and yours! We’ll take a deeper look into Open Licensing, Open Value Licensing, and Software Assurance so you’ll know what questions to ask in your next customer conversations. We’ll also demonstrate several of the tools and resources that will help ease your pain when working with Microsoft Licensing.

Windows Vista Slips to January - Is this Good, Bad, or Indifferent?

With the Announcement of Windows Vista’s release slipping to January 2007, there is a lot of mixed emotion out there regarding this announcement.  After an internal meeting in February where Steve Ballmer was one of the speakers and talked about Vista’s schedule and didn’t seem too pleased with its progress, we were all concerned with a possible slip.  At the same time, we’d rather see the product slip and have a better product at release verses releasing a product just to say we released it and suffer the consequence afterwards.

We heard the news today during the Named OEM CEO Summit this afternoon just as the news was hitting the wire and I was surprised by some of the responses from the OEM Executives.  Several of them mentioned a level of relieve of the slip because it meant that vendors would have more time to make improvements in graphics cards and it would be easier to get the Intel 945 chip sets in place for the new systems.

Since the launch will follow the holiday season, it means systems will ship with Windows XP for one more season or the other option of possibly shipping some systems with pre release code (not a recommended solution, but will inevitably  happen in some instances).

What does this mean for System Builders, OEMs, and MNA’s?   Keep focusing on those new Dual Core Systems and work keep your eye on the Office 2007 Launch which is still on track and will now be a separate launch from Windows Vista.
